Our New Protocols

Events DC and Entertainment & Sports Arena are committed to hosting world-class sports and entertainment while keeping all fans, guests, employees, players, and performers safe. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been working closely with the DC Department of Health to establish and implement the latest health and safety protocols in accordance with guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

The number of patrons permitted to attend events at the arena will be subject to District of Columbia guidelines and the requirements of respective event organizers.

Attending a Capital City Go-Go Game

All fans attending a Capital City Go-Go game are subject to Entertainment & Sports arena policies. Courtside ticket holders are subject to additional protocols per NBA guidelines.

For the safety of all players, coaches, staff, and fans, the following guidelines must be followed by all courtside ticketholders:

  • Every courtside ticketholder occupying these seats must be fully vaccinated: FL101, FL102, FL105, FL107, FL110, FL111, FL112, and the 202 Courtside Lounge, presented by Ticketmaster Hospitality Area.
  • Your ticket will feature a designated color that indicates to arena staff that you are subject to vaccine verification. See ticket example here.
  • Upon entry, you will be directed to check in at the vaccine verification area.
  • Once your vaccination card is verified, you will be given an arena-issued wristband to wear. Please note, you will be required to show both your vaccination card and government issued ID at each game this season to receive your wristband and access your courtside seats.
  • Individuals without a wristband will not be allowed to take their courtside seats.
  • You will not be allowed to provide proof of vaccination in advance; you must present it at the time of arena entry at every Go-Go home game.
  • No individuals under the age of 12 - under any circumstances - are currently permitted to sit in courtside seats.

How to Show Your Vaccination

You may bring your physical CDC vaccination card indicating that you are fully vaccinated. The name on your vaccination card must match the name on the government issued ID you provide. If you are not able to provide your physical card, or uncomfortable doing so, the following options are also permitted.

Scan It With Your Phone: Both iOS and Android system users can scan their vaccination card without downloading an app.

  • On an Android, you can scan any document directly into Google Drive. Tap the rainbow-colored “+” button in the lower-right corner of the home screen of Google Drive. When the menu slides up from the bottom, select “Scan.”
  • On an iPhone, simply open a new note and tap the camera icon. Then select “Scan Documents”.

Vaccine Passport Apps:

  • MYIR Mobile: State health departments for Washington, D.C. and Maryland allow residents to access a digital vaccine record via a free service called MYIR Mobile.
  • Clear Health Pass: The Clear Health Pass is an instant and free way to securely confirm your vaccination status.

Attending a Washington Mystics Game

If you are planning on attending a Washington Mystics home game during the 2021 season, please be aware of the following information.

Verbal Fan Questionnaire

  • Each guest will be asked to complete a verbal health questionnaire upon entering Entertainment & Sports Arena. This questionnaire takes place following security screening but prior to tickets being scanned at entry.

Box Office

  • Ticket Distribution for the Mystics 2021 season will be all digital. Entertainment Box Office will not offer walk-up sales for the Mystics 2021 season. If you are attending a Washington Mystics game at Entertainment & Sports Arena, please visit the complete Event Terms & Conditions page

Team Store

  • The team store is open at each game outside of Section 103.

Bag Policy

Patrons may not enter Entertainment & Sports Arena with bags, backpacks, purses, or luggage. Wallet-size clutches no larger than 5” x 7”, medical bags or parenting/diaper bags no larger than 14″ x 14″ x 6″ are permitted. Any medical or parenting bags (child must be present) that are exempted are subject to security screening.

Please note, there are no bag checks or bag storage locations available to the public at the Entertainment & Sports Arena. 

Events DC reserves the right to confiscate items within the arena that may cause a danger or disruption to the event or to other guests.

COVID-19 Health Screening

All staff and fans are subject to the following verbal screening before entering Entertainment & Sports Arena:

Do any of the following apply to you today?

  • Have you felt like you had a fever in the past 24 hours?
  • Do you have any of the following symptoms?  New or unusual cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, loss of taste and/or smell, diarrhea, vomiting, fever, chills, sweats, nasal congestion, and headache
  • Have you, or anyone you have been in close contact with, been diagnosed with COVID-19, or been placed on quarantine for possible contact with COVID-19 within the past 14 days?

If you answer yes to any question, you will not be permitted to enter.

COVID-19 Recovery Plan

The health and safety of our clients and guests are our top priority as Events DC reopens for business during COVID-19.

As Events DC continues to respond to the pandemic, we are enhancing sanitation, providing additional training for staff, and making physical improvements to our facilities across the District to protect the health of our employees, customers, guests, and our community.

Enhanced Sanitation

In partnership with our cleaning partner Bolana Inc., we are employing enhanced sanitation measures throughout the Arena, including:

  • Continuously cleaning our high-contact surfaces throughout the day
  • Placed stocked hand sanitizer stations throughout all concourses, and the entrances to our main function spaces
  • Embed good health and hygiene practices that support the safety and wellbeing of our customers, guests and employees
  • Define appropriate physical distancing practices for our sanitation operations
  • Implement new and enhanced cleaning, sanitation and disinfecting procedures
  • Employ available and emerging technology to further improve safety and the guest experience
Feeling Sick?

Not feeling well?  Have a fever?  Fans who are feeling sick or experiencing any symptoms are kindly asked to stay home.

Food and Beverage

Food & beverage operations will maintain compliance with the highest standards of current health and safety regulations.

  • Cashless transactions are highly encouraged to minimize contact.
  • Distancing guidelines will be provided for guests while waiting in line.
  • Food and beverage items will be covered when served.
  • Condiments, utensils, and straws will be provided in individual packets upon request.
  • All contact surfaces will be cleaned in between guest transactions.

Food and beverages are only to be consumed in your dedicated seat. Face coverings are required in all areas except for when actively eating or drinking in seats. No food or drink may be consumed on the concourse.

Menu items and availability are subject to change depending on the event.

Congregating is not permitted on the concourse. Please return to your seats after receiving your food and beverage items.

Alcohol Sales Cut-Off Times

Mystics Games: Alcohol sales will be discontinued at the end of the second quarter for concession stands.

Other events: Subject to change depending on the event.

Face Mask Policy

Consistent with the CDC and the DC Department of Health guidelines health guidelines, masks are required for all guests and staff inside the Entertainment & Sports Arena. Masks may be removed only when actively eating or drinking.  All guests may be subject to health screenings inclusive of completing a verbal questionnaire and temperature scan prior to entry into the Arena. This policy may change as a result of any changes in the CDC or District’s public health guidance.

Events DC has earned GBAC STAR™ facility accreditation for Entertainment & Sports Arena, Walter E. Washington Convention Center, and DC Armory from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC)®, a Division of ISSA, for its preeminent cleaning, disinfection and infection prevention strategies.

Indoor Air Quality

Events DC has partnered with AtmosAir Solutions to install bi-polar ionization (BPI) technology at Entertainment & Sports Arena to provide an improved indoor environment for all guests and staff.

AtmosAir Solutions BPI devices, installed inside the building’s HVAC system, improves wellness by suppressing airborne and surface micro-organisms and pathogens, including viruses, bacteria and mold. The technology also reduces odors and unhealthy and irritating volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The BPI devices improve the overall sustainability of Entertainment & Sports Arena by reducing total energy consumption and operational costs.
 
Entertainment & Sports Arena will also feature AtmosAware, a cloud based indoor air quality monitoring system, allowing Arena staff to monitor concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2), particulate matter and total VOCs in real-time. AtmosAware analyzes historical levels to detect important changes to indoor air conditions conveniently and quickly.

Our Staff
Our staff is committed to your safety.  Our staff complete symptom questionnaires before arriving at work and must be fever and symptom-free. Security Screening

We ask that guests maintain at least 6 feet of distance between other patrons outside of their immediate party as they arrive at Entertainment & Sports Arena. Additional distancing instructions will be provided for guests upon entering the building. Our entire security screening process is touchless.

Signage

We’ve added signage throughout Entertainment & Sports Arena to remind all of our guests of our COVID-19 protocols and CDC prevention tips.

Surface Disinfection

In partnership with SurfaceGuard, we deployed its high-grade COVID-19 remediation and health and safety reporting system at Entertainment & Sports Arena.
 
SurfaceGuard is a Washington, DC-based specialty coating company combining an EPA N List disinfectant with advanced technology designed to kill COVID-19.

Quick facts below:

  • SurfaceGuard BIOPROTECT™ biostatic surface protection, a long-lasting product that bonds with the surfaces of our furniture and equipment to stop the growth and reproduction of bacteria
  • NanoSeptic light-powered self-cleaning surface products placed on our high-traffic public touchpoints to continuously self-clean these surfaces 24/7
  • Our hand sanitizer locations are stocked and deployed strategically throughout our venues. They are monitored and replenished frequently
  • We are deploying electrostatic sprayers throughout our venues to sanitize event function spaces overnight and during the day. With these sprayers, we ensure that we are disinfecting all surfaces in event spaces, not just the visible tops of tables and chairs.
Vaccinated Guests

Thank you for helping to stop the pandemic by getting the COVID-19 vaccination. Vaccinated guests must continue to follow health and safety guidelines, including, wearing a mask over your nose and mouth, physical distancing and washing your hands often.

It’s important for everyone to continue using all the tools available to help stop this pandemic as we learn more about how COVID-19 vaccines work in real-world conditions.  Additional information can be found on the CDC’s website Key Things to Know about COVID-19 Vaccines.

COVID-19 Warning

In connection with the 2021 WNBA season, we have taken enhanced health and safety measures intended to mitigate the risk of exposure to COVID-19.  Despite the protocols and requirements that we have put in place, no precautions can eliminate the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

Traveling to and from, visiting, and/or providing services in and around the arena may lead to a risk of exposure to COVID-19.

COVID-19 is highly contagious and there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any place where people are present.  COVID-19 can lead to severe illness and death.  While people of all ages and health conditions have been adversely affected by COVID-19, certain people have been identified by public health authorities as having greater risk based on age and underlying medical conditions.  Exposure to COVID-19 can result in being subject to quarantine requirements.
