COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION MEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
All-session ticket books are now on sale for the 2022 CAA Men’s Basketball Championship to be held March 5-8 at Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.
A limited number of ticket books, which provide admission to all games of the tournament, start at $100 for upper level seating, with baseline and corner seating available for $150 and lower-level seating $250 for the eight-game package. REDISCOVER SPRING WITH THE NATIONAL CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
Be a part of the National Cherry Blossom Festival March 20 – April 17 for four weeks of celebration filled with food, fun, and culture!
The 2022 Festival is the 110th anniversary of the gift of trees from the Mayor of Tokyo to Washington, DC. The Signature Events you know and love are back in person, along with a wide variety of ways to experience Washington, DC as you can only see it once a year: stay at partner hotels, dine at Cherry Picks restaurants, and check out Petal Porches and Art in Bloom installations across the city and surrounding areas!

COMMUNITY GRANT AWARDEE SPOTLIGHT: HUNG TAO CHOY MEI
Hung Tao Choy Mei, based in Ward 1, has been teaching children from ages 6 to 18 years old about Kung Fu, Chinese Lion and Dragon Dance, Chinese Drumming, and African Djembe Drumming for over 25-years! They have a strong focus in the performing and cultural arts, blending Chinese and African cultures together. As an Events DC Community Grant awardee (FY2022, Cycle 1), they were awarded for their DC Dragonz weekend program that studies the history and art of various Chinese dances and drumming. GROUNDBREAKING FOR NEW WARD 8 HOSPITAL AT ST. ELIZABETHS EAST CAMPUS
On February 17th, Mayor Muriel Bowser along with Ward 8 Councilmember Trayon White, Ward 7 Councilmember Vincent Gray, and other DC elected officials broke ground on a new hospital at St. Elizabeth’s East Campus. The hospital will be funded by District government which also owns the facility and provides oversight. Universal Health Services will manage construction and operate the hospital. This hospital will also be providing 500 jobs for residents in the community.
Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center, named after Frederick Douglass‘s historic residence in Anacostia, is a 136-bed full-service hospital. It will provide a complete range of inpatient services to all District residents, including newborn delivery, maternal health and women’s services, a verified trauma center, general surgery, behavioral health, and pediatric and adult emergency services. The hospital is scheduled to open late December 2024.
