Ten chefs from Aramark properties competed recently at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in the next stage of the Aramark Culinary Excellence Competition.

The chefs from as close as the Capital One Arena and as far away as Ontario, Canada were cooking for bragging rights, but also a chance to compete for the Aramark Culinary Excellence (ACE) National Championship. ACE is a culinary competition utilizing American Culinary Federation (ACF) standards that celebrates Aramark’s culinary talent.

Aramark is the manager of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center’s food and beverage program.

Chefs from Sports and Entertainment, Collegiate Hospitality, Healthcare+, Destinations, Student Nutrition and Workplace Experience Group will compete individually in regional competitions where winners will advance to the national round. The top three winners from each Business Unit will form a team to compete, along with the 2023 International Chef’s Cup winners, in the Aramark Culinary Excellence Enterprise Finals in the Fall. The Business Unit that wins the Enterprise competition will have the coveted honor of being the 2023 ACE Champions.

The Sports and Entertainment representatives who competed at the Convention Center recently consisted of Sean Capsticks of Rogers Center in Toronto, Canada; Michael Anthony of Adrian Restaurant at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Len Mitchell of Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts; Mychal Robinson of Capital One Arena in Washington, DC; Patrick Turcot of Shaw Centre in Ottawa, Canada; and Gabor Kovats of PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Capsticks, Anthony, Turcot and Kovats will be moving on to the next competition.

The Destinations team was made up of Justin Key of Bolger Conference Center in Potomac, Maryland; Jason Meyers of Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey; and Jeff Graham and Jon Bush, both corporate travel chefs.

Key, Meyers and Graham will be moving on to the next competition.
