Events DC was named the winner of a Bronze Stevie® Award in the Most Valuable Corporate Response to COVID-19 Category in the 19th Annual International Business Awards®.
The International Business Awards are the world’s premier business awards program created to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and working professionals.
“People are what make Washington, DC an unforgettable place to live, work and visit. The health and safety of our staff, clients and guests is our top priority and I am so pleased our efforts to safely reopen for business during COVID-19 are being recognized,” said Events DC Interim President and CEO Samuel Thomas. “We enhanced sanitation, provided additional training for staff and made physical improvements to our facilities across the District to protect the health of our employees, customers, guests and our community.”
Winners will be celebrated during a gala banquet at the InterContinental London Park Lane Hotel, in London, England, on Saturday, 15 October – the first live IBA awards ceremony since 2019. Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 300 executives worldwide who participated in the judging process in June and July.
Stevie Awards president Maggie Miller said, “This year’s class of honorees are as innovative, adventuresome, persistent and successful as we’ve ever had. We look forward to celebrating their achievements with them during our 15 October awards banquet in London.”
This is the sixth Stevie Award for Events DC. The organization received three Bronze Stevie Awards in both 2018 and 2019 for Human Resources Categories. Events DC also won a Gold Stevie Award for Women in Business in 2019 in Communications and Marketing initiatives and another Gold Stevie Award in Human Resources.
In addition to this 2022 Stevie Award, Events DC has earned the WELL Health-Safety Rating and GBAC STAR™ facility accreditation for the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Entertainment & Sports Arena and DC Armory. The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for all new and existing building and space types focusing on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement and emergency plans to address a post-COVID-19 environment now and into the future.
