Sumo Wrestlers will descend upon Washington, DC June 16 - 18, 2023 at WEG Studios for Sumo + Sushi, the ultimate interactive sumo experience. Sumo + Sushi is hosted by Sumo legend, Konishiki. With a peak weight of 633 lbs, he is the all-time heaviest wrestler in the history of the sport. Born and raised in Hawaii, Konishiki is also the first non-Japanese-born wrestler to reach ōzeki - the second highest rank in Sumo. The special three-night event will feature a glimpse into the history of sumo, live matches and a Q&A portion where audience members will have the chance to interact with the fighters. A select few guests will even ‘Get In The Ring!’ to take on the wrestler of their choice.

Sushi from local DC restaurants, Zeppelin; Love, Makoto; and Takara 14 will be available during the show and based on your selected ticketing level.

There are several ways to experience Sumo + Sushi with different ticket tiers. If you’re looking to watch the show without food included, you can purchase ‘The Show [Viewing Only]’ at $95 + fees. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Guests looking to enjoy a bento box from Chef Minoru Ogawa and Zeppelin during the event can purchase ‘Sushi + The Show’ at $140 + fees. For those looking to be closest to the action with a premium bento box and included drink from Love, Makoto’s Chef Makoto Okuwa, you’ll want to buy ‘Front Row: Sushi + The Show’ at $300 + fees. Guests looking for the ultimate experience with a private open bar and dedicated chef hand rolling sushi on demand from Takara 14’s Chef Johnny Yi, you’ll want to buy ‘VIP Sky Suite’ at $400 + fees. Limited ticket add-ons for your chance to ‘Get In The Ring’ with a wrestler are available for $200. Ticket prices will increase as inventory decreases.



Zeppelin Restaurant & Bar, founded in 2019, serves up sushi and Japanese charcoal grilled yakitori, while paying homage to the Golden Age of the Great Passenger Airships. Featuring traditional Edomae-style nigiri sushi and Omakase bar by Chef Minoru Ogawa, a Tokyo native who studied under his master-chef father in Japan.

Internationally renowned Japanese chef and restaurateur Makoto Okuwa has partnered with the owners of Unconventional Diner and L’Ardente to create Love, Makoto—an ambitious Japanese culinary collection in DC's newly minted East End neighborhood.
