Events DC Newly Renovated Downtown Dining District

Downtown Dining District

The Walter E. Washington Convention Center debuted its new Downtown Dining District recently during the Customer Appreciation Event, which included a sneak peak to the Washington Auto Show.

As one of the busiest convention centers in the nation, WEWCC wants to continue to stay fresh and attract the local, national and international business that brings a robust economic impact to the entire city—including filled restaurants, overnight stays in hotel rooms and visitors to the many and varied attractions Washington, DC has to offer. The new Downtown Dining District gives our customers another option for their convention or meeting outside of the traditional exhibit and meeting spaces.

The renovation included opening the more than 17,000-square-foot space up with direct entry from the Grand Lobby and views to the exhibit halls below, about 400-people seating capacity and making the area more flexible for various retail and catering functions, including a tasting room, restaurant, bar and induction kitchen, among others. The new entry will also allow us to book this space separately from existing convention groups that may be occupying other sections of the facility.

Discussions around the future uses of the Downtown Dining District are still occurring, but we always welcome our local, national and international customers to meet with our fantastic sales team to see how we can help them meet their needs while achieving their meeting, convention and event goals.
