Eagles Nest Youth Association (ENYA) is a volunteer-based non-profit organization that supports youth athletics in the Bellevue neighborhood of Ward 8. With a mission to effectively make a difference in children’s lives, ENYA launched their Shoot Hoops Not Bullets program in 2007, an eight-week, multi-faceted summer program that hosts workshops on violence prevention while utilizes basketball to teach sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The program was created in response to the youth crime rate in the Ward 8. Summer nights are the highest risk period for youth and young adults—a time when many youth programs are unavailable—Shoot Hoops Not Bullets seeks to fill this gap.
