Events DC, the official convention and sports authority of the District of Columbia, is pleased to announce three new promotions to its executive team: Nicole Jackson as General Counsel, Misty Johnson-Oratokhai as Chief Administrative Officer and Robert Stowe as Vice President of Development and Strategic Initiatives.
“As our business continues to rapidly change, we must continue to evolve as an organization and prepare for our future,” said Gregory A. O’Dell, president and chief executive officer of Events DC. “I am excited about these changes, as well as the direction in which we are moving our organization. We will continue to look for opportunities to strengthen Events DC, ensuring that we not only remain the top provider of sports, entertainment, conventions and meetings, but also serve as innovation leaders, continuously embarking upon new ventures that further highlight DC as a premier destination to live, work and play.”
Having joined Events DC in 2009 as the deputy general counsel of sports, entertainment and special events, Jackson will now serve as the chief legal officer and advisor for Events DC, providing legal guidance to the president and chief executive officer, executive staff, and Board of Directors. Jackson received her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Virginia and her Juris Doctorate from Duke University School of Law.
After managing the Events DC human resources department as chief people officer for the past five years, Johnson-Oratokhai will expand her role by also overseeing the office of contracts and procurement as well as the technology management division at Events DC. She has more than 12 years of extensive legal and human resources management experience with a proven track record of driving transformation initiatives in high growth and complex organizations across the healthcare, publishing and commercial transportation human resources business landscapes. Johnson-Oratokhai holds a juris doctorate from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America; she attended the University of Delaware and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of the District of Columbia.
