Howard Bison versus Hampton Pirates takes place at Entertainment & Sports Arena on February 1
Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for Washington, DC is kicking off Black History Month by presenting The Battle for the Real HU on Saturday, February 1 at the Entertainment & Sports Arena. The contest will feature the Howard University Bison, and the Hampton University Pirates basketball teams compete for “the real HU” title. This will be the first time the historic rivalry will be hosted at the Entertainment & Sports Arena, located in the Congress Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC.
“Events DC’s mission is to create unique experiences that result in jobs, economic impact and lasting memories for residents, tourists and guests,” said Events DC President and CEO Angie M. Gates. “We are proud to host some of the best men’s collegiate basketball our nation has to offer at the Entertainment and Sports Arena. I invite basketball fans to take part in this storied rivalry firsthand, while celebrating pride in the legacy of historically black colleges and universities.”
The game is the latest way Events DC is supporting world-class sporting events in the District of Columbia. The Battle for the Real HU will be hosted by Britt Waters of WJLA and DJ Heat and feature halftime strolls, exclusive giveaways, merchandise and ticket raffles. Neighboring Sycamore & Oak will host a kick back before and after the 3 p.m. game.
