Community Spotlight: Project Giveback

Project GiveBack is a community service organization working to provide programs and assistance for underprivileged
individuals, families, and children in the greater Washington metropolitan area.

Starting from humble beginnings in 1995, founder Ransom Miller and a handful of friends took the initiative to create Thanksgiving gift baskets and distribute them to families in need. During its first year, Project GiveBack delivered food to six families and grew those initial efforts by providing meals and support to thousands of families over the past 26 years.

Even though 2020 has brought many challenges along the way, Project GiveBack has found opportunities to come together and continue its commitment to those they serve. In preparation for this year’s distribution, Project GiveBack is requiring face masks, gloves, sanitation areas, health questionnaires, temperature screenings, contactless pickup and delivery. Through a continued partnership with Events DC, Project GiveBack is committed to providing enough food for families to enjoy a Happy Thanksgiving and holiday season.

As it looks to the future, Project GiveBack remains optimistic in its efforts to expand its reach and impact more lives and communities. For more information on Project GiveBack please visit HERE. If you are interested in upcoming volunteer opportunities, please email hardisha@projectgiveback.org.
