Farewell RFK Stadium: Stand Up and Cheer

Stand Up and Cheer

On December 8, Events DC hosted "Stand Up and Cheer,” a private event to commemorate the removal of the last iconic orange seats from Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium ahead of it’s demolition in 2023.

Featured guests included Mayor Muriel Bowser, former Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, city officials, Washington Commanders Super Bowl XXII MVP Doug Williams, former D.C. United legend Bill Hamid and representatives from the Washington Spirit and Washington Nationals.

The event is part of Events DC’s Farewell RFK Stadium campaign, which officially began on November 3 with an initial sale of authentic stadium seats. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington and St. Coletta of Greater Washington.

This is the final event ever held inside RFK Stadium where generations of Washingtonians experienced unforgettable moments across music and sports since 1961! Join us on InstagramTwitter and FarewellRFK.com as we spend the next year together bidding a proper farewell to one of the nation's most storied stadiums and for information on future public events and celebrations.
