Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia, today announced the recipients for its Community Grants Program Cycle 2.
As an active and engaged entity of the community, Events DC supports the future of non-profit organizations in Washington, DC that promote youth participation in both the arts and athletics. A total of 25 organizations received grants in fiscal year 2023’s Community Grants Cycle 2 which total $250,000.
"We are thrilled to be able to support so many outstanding and inspiring organizations across all eight wards. Every day, these groups provide invaluable support in the areas of athletics, culture and the arts. We couldn’t be more excited to help District youth learn and grow while exercising their bodies and minds." said Max Brown, chairman, Events DC Board of Directors.
"I am a huge fan of Events DC’s Community Grant Program. I love that we are supporting young artists and athletes of the creative and sports community in all eight wards of the District of Columbia,” said Events DC President and CEO Angie M. Gates. “Our neighborhood organizations are awarded monetary resources while building our future Capital of Creativity and District of Champions.”
Each fiscal year, Events DC accepts applications twice for two grant cycles. Single grant amounts range from $2,500 to $25,000.
“Our District of Columbia nonprofits provide our young people with new ways to express themselves and think about their own futures,” said George T. Simpson, chairman, Events DC Board of Directors Community Grants & Engagement Committee. “I was very pleased to see we had a record number of applications in Cycle 2 for this honorable mission.”
In June 2023, Events DC will announce the opening of the first cycle of fiscal year 2024’s Community Grant application period. There will be several virtual sessions held for interested organizations throughout July before applications are due August 1. For more information, please click here.
