Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge: Programming Update
Judges announced, more than 20 embassies to participate in the international culinary competition
The Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge is thrilled to announce that 20 embassies and counting have confirmed their participation in the friendly, delicious culinary competition to take place March 7th starting at 6pm at Union Station. The embassies hail from all over the world, with exciting additions such as Cuba, Ukraine and Bolivia.
Past winners such as Barbados, Peru, China, Morocco and Serbia have also confirmed their participation, with new and exciting sampling bites and beverages to be prepared for a night of culinary mastery.
For the public, the Embassy Chef Challenge will be a delightful chance to try new and exciting dishes from around the world in a one-of-a-kind, culturally enticing experience. For the participating chefs, they will compete to win the coveted People’s Choice Award, chosen by guests’ votes and announced alongside the Judges’ Choice, selected by a panel of influential members of the diplomatic, cultural and culinary communities.

This year’s Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge judging panel:
- Jarrett Melendez, Alex and GLAAD Award-winning writer for Bon Appétit, Saveur, Epicurious, and Food52, and author of “Chef’s Kiss” and “My Pokémon Baking Book,” as well as “The Comic Kitchen,” an upcoming fully illustrated, comic-style cookbook
- Masako Morishita, Executive Chef at Perry’s, Eater DC’s 2023 Chef of the Year, and a 2024 James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic
- Andre Rush, Longtime White House Executive Chef, celebrity author, and military & mental health advocate
- Anna Spiegel, a DC native and reporter for Axios, covering the District's dynamic dining, drinking & lifestyle scene
- Daniel Thomas, Private Chef to multiple U.S. Presidents, members of Congress and world leaders, and author of “Recipes for a New You!”

The Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge not only encourages culinary diplomacy, but also celebrates the arts of many cultures and highlights some of the worlds amazing musicians, dancers and singers.
