The Chill Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1995 by Jake and Donna Carpenter, the owners of Burton Snowboards. Our mission is to inspire young people through boardsports—such as snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, and stand-up paddleboarding—to build self-esteem, life skills, and a sense of belonging within the boardsports community.Chill offers curriculum that emphasizes core values: patience, persistence, responsibility, courage, respect, and pride. Each program day focuses on one of these themes, integrating them into boardsport lessons and activities to promote personal growth and resilience.Chill collaborates with various youth-serving agencies—including social service organizations, mental health agencies, foster care programs, juvenile justice programs, and schools—to reach underserved youth aged 11 to 19. All equipment and services are provided at no cost to participants.
