DC2026: Bid to Host 2026 FIFA World Cup

Already a world-class sports city with a prestigious history of hosting international sports events, Washington, DC is well-positioned to serve as host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With deep soccer roots, a commitment to the future of the game, and world-class infrastructure, The District has proven its ability to successfully host high-profile international events. Walter E. Washington Convention Center: Streetscape Project

Events DC has launched several short, medium and long-term initiatives for the WEWCC, including a new Streetscape project that will transform the exterior of the Convention Center with new lighting, world-class art, retail kiosks, planters, furnishings, and more. Reaffirming Events DC’s commitment to local businesses in the Shaw neighborhood, this vibrant new space will secure tenants in the surrounding area while creating authentic experiences for visitors and residents, both inside and outside of the Convention Center.
