Events DC Launches FY 2022 $500,000 Community Grant Program for District Youth
Funds help youth in sports, performing and cultural arts programs
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Events DC, the official convention and sports authority of the District of Columbia, announced the launch of Cycle 1 of the Fiscal Year 2022 Events DC community grant program. This program provides financial support to District of Columbia-based non-profit organizations that work with District children or youth in the areas of sports, performing or cultural arts.
Events DC awards $500,000 in grants annually in two cycles per year totaling $250,000 each. Individual grants range from $2,500 up to $25,000 awarded to eligible non-profits.
Applications for FY 2022 - Cycle 1 grants are due no later than August 1, 2021. Applicants will be notified of their award status by October 15, 2021.
To be considered, applicants must meet the following edibility requirements:
- Operate a DC-based non-profit organization certified as tax exempt in accordance with criteria set forth by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Tax Code and granted an exemption from District of Columbia income and franchise taxes, pursuant to DC Code § 47-1802.01;
- Utilize grant funding for programs or projects that support youth-focused sports, performing or cultural arts in the District of Columbia;
- Present a copy of an annual financial audit conducted by a certified public accountant for the organization’s most recent fiscal year; or if the organization has not conducted an annual financial audit, a copy of the organization’s IRS Form 990 for the most recent tax year; and
- Provide a copy of an active business license issued by the District of Columbia Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) – Corporations Division (indicating an “active” business license at the time of application and agreeing to maintain such status throughout the grant period).
