Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia, released the following statement on the passing of former City Administrator Allen Lew. Lew oversaw the planning, design, and construction of multiple significant projects including the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Nationals Park, and the rehabilitation of the historic RFK Memorial Stadium for Major League Baseball’s return to Washington, DC. He also led the former DC Sports and Entertainment Commission from 2004-2007. 



“We are deeply saddened on the loss of Allen. Allen was a mentor, incredible leader and loyal friend to so many of us. I am personally grateful for the professional and personal relationship we had as our lives were intertwined in many ways.  I credit Allen for not only paving the way but also having his vote of confidence as his successor on important roles and key projects that transformed our city. Even during this time of grief, we can take comfort in the fact that that his profound legacy endures and continues to inspire us.
