This summer, Events DC will launch an Instagram based social media campaign alongside local food and lifestyle blogger Jessica van Dop DeJesus, known as the “Dining Traveler.” Through this partnership, Events DC will create a journey through Washington, DC using food as a catalyst to showcase the city’s most unique parts and exciting activities.

Jessica currently lives in DC, where she shares her experiences about the local food scene and best attractions, while serving as a Marine Corps Reserve Officer and a digital content creator. Her interests and broad perspective on food and travel comes from spending time in 46 countries on and off duty.

It’s hard for Jessica to pick her favorite dining spots in the city but there are a few she always returns to. You can find her at a business lunch at The Oval Room, eating pancakes at her favorite breakfast in the city, The Blue Duck Tavern, and slurping on ramen at Bantam King. She enjoys taking her out of town guests to her neighborhood favorite, Brookland Finest. For drinks she loves the beautifully crafted cocktails at Espita Mezcaleria, Columbia Room, and The Gibson. And if it’s a coffee break, she loves Compass Coffee, founded by two motivated former Marines. Jessica says that she loves the DC dining scene as it reflects the dynamic and international vibe of the city.

With recent accolades including Bon Appétit naming DC “Restaurant City of the Year” (2016), this partnership highlights and reinforces the District as a premier and diverse destination for global flavors and visitors alike. The District’s vibrant restaurant scene is a key part of what makes the city a world-class destination.

Follow Events DC and the “Dining Traveler” on Instagram each week to experience the city through food, and share your favorite restaurants using the hashtag, #WeMakeDCHappen, along the way for a chance to win fun prizes.
