DC's Summer Restaurant Week 2020 is Serving Up Something for Everyone
It’s that foodie favorite time of year – Summer Restaurant Week (August 17-30), presented by the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW). This year’s promotion has been extended by an additional week offering a variety of options such as brunch, lunch, dinner, and a new to-go program with pricing ranging from $22 for a multi-course lunch or brunch to $35 or $55 for a three-course dinner. Several restaurants are also offering specially priced family-style to-go meals at price points to fit a variety of budgets and tastes for curbside pickup.
In an effort to support the struggling restaurant industry given the global pandemic, RAMW presenting sponsors Events DC and JBG SMITH are covering the cost of participating to ensure that area restaurants can participate without monetary burden.

DC Public Schools Update - #ReopenStrong Resources for Parents
DC Public Schools (DCPS) will start the 2020-2021 School Year with all-virtual learning, for all grades, beginning August 31, 2020, through November 6, 2020.
DCPS will be providing a Parent University series with weekly sessions of tools and information for learning at home. Each hour-long session will address concerns and provide assistance for parents, to support the virtual learning process. Events DC Community Grant Program Celebrating Ward 7 Awardee, Step Afrika!
Events DC’s Community Grant Program provides financial support to qualified non-profit organizations that serve DC youth in the areas of sports, performing, and cultural arts. In Cycle 1 of the FY21 grant period, the Community Grant Program reflects and celebrates the on-going work and impact that previous year grant awardees have on DC youth.
Located in Ward 7, previous year grant awardee Step Afrika! continues to progress its enriched youth program of over 25 years. Step Afrika! is the first professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping, and now ranks as one of the top ten African-American dance companies in the United States.
Step Afrika! blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities; traditional West and Southern African dances; and an array of contemporary dance and art forms into a cohesive, compelling artistic experience. Performances are much more than dance shows; they integrate songs, storytelling, humor, and audience participation. The blend of technique, agility, and pure energy makes each performance unique and leaves the audience with their hearts pounding.
Step Afrika! promotes stepping as an educational tool for young people, focusing on teamwork, academic achievement, and cross-cultural understanding.
