Events DC Academy provides returning citizens, marginalized communities, seniors, and veterans with a structured, hands-on learning experience that blends practical on-the-job training with formal classroom instruction. Through a well-rounded educational approach that pairs theory with real-world practice, the Academy prepares participants for successful careers in hospitality while helping meet the workforce needs of the District of Columbia.

Program Highlights
Since launching, the Events DC Academy has made significant strides across all of its program areas:
Hosted 10 college students through the Strive Internship Summer Program.
Partnered with GLP and Calpro to deliver apprenticeship programs at the CareFirst Arena and the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Launched the first Hospitality Management Training program at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, graduating five cohorts through a 7-week, in-class hospitality management curriculum.
Launched an apprenticeship program with Casa Innovation, sponsoring a hospitality professional in Brazil to serve as a brand ambassador for Events DC across the diaspora.
Partnered with Carpenters Union Local 491 on an 8-week apprenticeship program that has supported 10 cohorts.
