Events DC announced it will host RFK Legacy: A Tailgate Experience to honor the iconic Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, on Saturday, September 5 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at The Fields at RFK Campus. For more than six decades, the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium stood as the heart of sports, entertainment and community in the nation's capital.

Joined by local leaders, community members, Washington, DC baseball and football legends and more, Events DC will host a celebration featuring fan experiences, autograph and photo opportunities, live performances, intramural sports and other family-friendly activities.

“RFK Stadium holds a special place in the hearts of Washingtonians for generations, serving as the stage for the moments that defined our city’s culture,” said Events DC President and CEO Angie M. Gates. “RFK Legacy: A Tailgate Experience is our way of celebrating those unforgettable memories with the community that made it all possible. We invite everyone to join us as we honor the storied history of this iconic landmark and begin the exciting journey toward its next chapter.”

RFK Stadium opened in 1961 and was home to the Washington Senators and its professional football team. RFK Stadium hosted the return of baseball to the District with the first three seasons of the Washington Nationals and housed D.C. United before Audi Field was built. In addition to the many Washington professional teams, the stadium hosted games for the 1994 World Cup and the 1996 Olympics.

RFK Stadium also hosted many cultural events including world-class concerts featuring The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, U2, and local favorites Wale, Rare Essence, Backyard Band and HFStivals.

RFK Legacy: A Tailgate Experience will honor those memories through highlights with special appearances from former players, coaches, elected officials, community leaders and Washington, DC sports legends.

The event will also celebrate the premiere of "Echoes of RFK," a six-episode podcast series that highlights the history and impact of RFK Stadium.
