Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for Washington, DC announced that the Walter E. Washington Convention Center is the recipient of a Silver Stella Award for being the best convention center in the Northeast region by Northstar Meetings Group. The Stella Awards are the meeting industry’s highest honor, recognizing hotels, convention centers, conference centers, airlines, cruise lines, destination marketing organizations (DMOs), convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs) and destination management companies (DMCs) that consistently deliver quality service and innovation to meeting and event professionals.
“We are thrilled to receive the Stella Award – our industry’s highest honor. This is our second Stella Award, which recognizes the excellent work by the entire team at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center,” said Events DC President and CEO Angie M. Gates. “As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and our recently earned LEED Gold certification, this award underscores our commitment to excellence in service and innovation for all of our guests.”
Northstar Meetings Group and its leading brands, Meetings & Conventions and Successful Meetings, announced that Events DC is one of a total of 242 organizations from around the globe that are being honored for consistently delivering quality service and innovation to meeting and event professionals.
This year, nearly 10,000 votes were cast from around the world for the 770 destinations, hotels and service providers nominated in 16 categories across six regions in the United States and worldwide. Winners were selected for achieving overall excellence, superb food and beverage, professionalism of staff, sustainability initiatives and other critical aspects of the meetings and events experience.
