The Event Will Feature Free Activities Honoring the History and Future of Women’s Sports

 

Celebrating the remarkable impact women have made and are making in shaping the future of sports, Events DC, CitySwing, TOGETHXR and LPGA*USGA Girls Golf will present Legends & Legacy in its second annual celebration at The Wharf on Saturday, September 6.

“We are delighted to celebrate the return of Legends & Legacy to the Wharf,” said Events DC President and CEO Angie M. Gates. “Alongside our partners, we aim to highlight the significant impact of women in sports and inspire the next generation. We invite everyone to join us for a family-friendly, empowering and unforgettable celebration in our nation’s capital.”

The free, full day of activities will include panel discussions and a fireside chat with sports legends and industry leaders hosted by acclaimed sports broadcaster Jemele Hill. The panelists include:

  • Monica McNutt (Prominent basketball analyst and ESPN host)
  • MJ Acosta (Award-winning journalist and ESPN talent)
  • Tisha Alyn (Golf media personality, former pro and podcaster)
  • Allie Grayson (Director Marketing and Strategy, Octagon)
  • Croix Bethune (2024 NWSL Rookie of the Year, Washington Spirit Midfielder)
  • Kiki Iriafen (2025 WNBA All-Star, Washington Mystics Forward)
  • Sonia Citron (2025 WNBA All-Star, Washington Mystics Guard)
  • Paula Hughes (Chief Digital Officer, TOGETHXR)
  • Tari Cash (CEO & Founder of CitySwing)
  • Eric Hechtmen (ATP/WTA tennis coach of Hailey Baptiste)
  • Nicholas Askew (Howard University, Director of Tennis, Swimming and Diving)

There also will be fun games for all ages, such as a golf simulator, mini golf and more.

The day will begin with music from DJ Her.

To close the day, there will be a U.S. Open Women’s Final watch party.
