Smoot Construction Company of Washington, DC has completed the abatement of identified asbestos containing materials and non-structural demolition work within RFK Stadium. Additionally, all utilities servicing the stadium have been disconnected.
A Raze Permit was issued by the DC Department of Buildings in June. Events DC is also working with the National Park Service on compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (“NEPA”) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (“NHPA”).
Structural demolition will commence once the compliance work is completed, and approval is received from the National Park Service.
