Smoot Construction Company of Washington, DC has completed the abatement of identified asbestos containing materials and non-structural demolition work within RFK Stadium. The ongoing disconnection of water and electrical infrastructure servicing the stadium will continue throughout the month. The remaining spectator seats in the upper seating bowl have also been removed.

Through the end of February, nearly 778 tons of metal and 16 tons of plastic material were recycled and approximately 965 tons of non-structural demolition debris was removed from the stadium.

Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) participation in the project remains at 75%, with Small Business Enterprise (SBE) participation at 54%.

 

Events DC is in the process of securing approvals in order to proceed with structural demolition.
