11th Annual Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge Presented by TCMA

Embassy Chef Challenge

Embassy Chef Challenge

Tickets for 2019 event on sale Friday, February 1.

The Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge presented by TCMA is an annual gathering of embassy chefs from around the world, coming together to showcase the unique flavors of their home countries. The friendly, culinary competition will feature an expected 30+ chefs in 2019, creating a truly global, immersive foodie experience only possible in Washington, DC.

Attendees will travel the world with their taste buds, sampling authentic bites and beverages from the participating nations. Competing chefs will battle it out to win the coveted People’s Choice Awards, chosen by attendee votes, and the Judges’ Choice Awards, selected by a panel of influential members of the diplomatic and culinary communities. The PepsiCo Best Beverage Award will be bestowed upon the embassy that presents the best native drink, whether wine, beer, cocktail or mocktail.

In addition to promoting culinary diplomacy, the event highlights some of metropolitan Washington’s awe-inspiring international musicians, dancers and singers. In previous years, performances have included traditional Turkish and Chinese dancers, Russian violinists, drummers from Cameroon, and Brazilian samba artists.

Chefs are already hard at work creating recipes for this year’s competition, and guests can look forward to dishes like last year’s People’s and Judges’ Choice winning Sisig, from the Embassy of the Philippines, or Drunken Bajan Lemonade from the Embassy of Barbados, which was named the evening’s best beverage.

Embassies currently confirmed to participate include: The Bahamas, Bangladesh, The Republic of Cameroon, El Salvador, Georgia, The Philippines, and Sri Lanka.
