Join us for year five of Day of Play at RFK on April 16, 2026! Events DC invites you to bring your friends, family and neighbors during Spring Break 2026.

This year, Day of Play at RFK, presented by Giant Food, is on its five year run! Events DC will host this free, community-oriented afternoon on Thursday, April 16 from 12:00 - 4:00 PM. The day features interactive games, food from Washington, DC's famed food trucks and live music. Day of Play is meant for families and guests of all ages at The Fields at RFK Campus (401 Oklahoma Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002).
 
Join the fun and assemble your squad for an active day filled with family-friendly competition during District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) spring break. This year, Day of Play has been selected to be a part of the DC250 celebrations of the United States' semi-quincentennial birthday! 

Pre-Registration is Closed

If you have already confirmed your attendance, pre-registration will open onsite at 11:00 AM. For those who have not, on-site registration is available and will begin at 11:30 AM. Plan to arrive early - less waiting, more playing! 

The Fields at RFK Campus are just a hop, skip and jump from the Stadium-Armory Station. Whatever transportation you take, we’ll get you here quickly and easily.

By Metro: Take the Blue or Orange Line to the Stadium-Armory Metro stop, from there The Fields are a short 10-minute walk. Coming out of the Metro, head north on 19th St SE toward A St SE, then turn right onto C St NE. Take a left onto 21st St NE, followed by a slight right onto Oklahoma Ave NE. Turn right to enter the Fields at RFK.

By Bus: C57 to Capitol Heights and the D20 to Minnesota Ave stop at 26th Street and Benning Road, which is closer to Lot 6.

Any bus that arrives to the Stadium-Armory Metro station.

The DC Streetcar’s last stop from Union Station is Benning Road and Oklahoma Avenue, which is closer to Lot 6.

The Fields are a quick 10-minute walk away if you take the D6, 97 or B2 to the Stadium-Armory Metro stop. Head north on 19th St SE toward A St SE. Turn right onto C St NE. Turn left. onto 21st St NE. Slight right onto Oklahoma Ave NE. Turn right to enter The Fields at RFK.

By Car: Driving yourself or using a rideshare service, The Fields at RFK Campus are just off I-295 and easy to access by car - no matter where you’re coming from. Google Maps can get you here.

Parking: The Fields has more than 300 dedicated parking spaces available.

2:30 PM – 3:00 PM: Session V

  • Pavilion Workout Session: Dance Party with DJ P Knock

3:00 PM – 3:45 PM: Session VI team competition games

  • Field 2: Beanbag toss, round of elem/middle/hs/adult

  • Races: Bouncy Ball, Tennis Racket and Sack Race

  • Tug of War: 2 rounds by elem/middle/hs/adult age group and shirt color, first are the entry rounds then winners compete 10 on each side

  • Pavilion Workout Session: Southern Soul Steppin with DMV Pressure Trail Riders

3:45 – 4:00 PM: Close Out

  • Announcement of winners at Pavilion Stage 

Do I need youth to participate?

Adults, aged 18 and over, may participate in Day of Play without a youth. There are activities dedicated to adults.

Why do I have to select a t-shirt color?

Your t-shirt color signifies your team. From 12 - 3 PM, there will be open play games where attendees can play with/against people from different teams. From 3 - 4 PM, your team will compete against the others to be the Champions of Play! This year, to celebrate DC 250, the team colors are blue, red and white. 

Is there onsite registration?

You may register on site at Day of Play; however, online registration is highly encouraged. All game slots, food vouchers and swag are on a first-come-first-served basis. Onsite registration will begin at 11:30 AM, where pre-registered registration will begin at 11:00 AM.
 
How do I sign up for a sport?
 
When checking in at the event registration table, you will receive a playbook with game information. It is suggested to check-in with the on-field staff least 10 minutes before your sport begins.
 
Are there only sports activities?
 
Beyond the sports sessions, Day of Play will have engaging art activities throughout the day!

How do I volunteer?

Volunteers should submit their request to the volunteer form.

How do I become a vendor for Day of Play?

What is allowed on The Fields?

Food and beverages are permitted in the Pavilion, picnic tables and natural grass areas. They are not permitted on the playing fields or any turf areas. Only water is allowed on the playing fields.

May I bring my pet?

Due to the volume of people and activities, pets are not encouraged to be at Day of Play. Overall, animals are permitted on the paved and natural grass areas of The Fields. Owners are required to leash and clean up after their pets at all times. Dogs are NOT permitted on the turf playing fields or the playground.

Is there a lost and found?

There is a lost and found tent located near the entrance of CareFirst Field. Beyond the event, please Contact Us for missing items.

Is parking available?

Parking is made available for free in Lot 6. Please Contact Us for ADA parking at Day of Play.
