I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.

This year is going to be great at Events DC!

We are welcoming more visitors than last year and have confirmed 18 citywide events that will serve as an economic engine for the travel and hospitality industry in Washington, DC. In 2019, tourism represented nearly $900 million in economic impact, supporting more than 78,000 jobs in the city. By improving these numbers, all eight wards will benefit.

In March 2003, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center was built, helping to invest in the Shaw neighborhood and transforming the community to what it is today. We always want the Convention Center to stand out amongst our competitors and showcase the District as a one-of-a-kind destination for tourists near and far, which is why Events DC launched its Streetscape Project in 2019. In the near future, we celebrate the next phase of that project that reaffirms our commitment to local businesses and better connects us with our neighbors.

In addition, we work to benefit our neighbors with our Community Grants program benefitting DC-based youth performing and cultural arts, as well as sports programs. Applications are being accepted through February 1, 2023 for non-profit organizations seeking a financial boost to their regular programming.

As the premier host of conventions, entertainment, sporting and cultural events in Washington, DC, Events DC will continue to host world-class experiences for our local, national and international traveling communities. We plan on attracting even more with our key partners like Destination DC, Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, the Hotel Association, among others.

We have so many exciting things happening this year from the annual Cherry Blossom and Broccoli City Festivals to the 2023 Major League Soccer All-Star Game to Otakon, the Japanese pop-culture convention, to events associated with the Farewell RFK Stadium project.

Make sure you stay connected with us and up to date on what’s happening in the District by following us on our social media.

Happy New Year!
