International City Festival

International City Festival

The vibrant global cultures of Washington, DC will be on display at the International City Festival held on May 2 and 3.

The festival is a family-friendly event hosted by Events DC that offers an immersive cultural experience, inviting locals and visitors alike to explore a rich mosaic of international traditions through live music, dance, art, food and crafts.

The festival showcases performances from global and local artists, interactive workshops and a bustling marketplace filled with handcrafted goods, global cuisines and small businesses representing cultures from around the world. The workshops include candle making, crochet, henna and a sip and paint.

“In showcasing the diverse talents of our local artists and businesses, this festival is carefully crafted to proudly represent the rich and multifaceted cultural landscape of our community. It has been a distinct privilege to curate the retail selection, ensuring each vendor and the handcrafted goods thoughtfully complement this vibrant atmosphere, offering attendees an immersive cultural experience,” said Virginia Blanca Arrisueño, Owner & Creative Director of Steadfast Supply.

Beyond entertainment, the International City Festival is a platform for cultural exchange and education—encouraging dialogue, curiosity and appreciation of the world’s many traditions, Gates said.

New this year is a Preview Happy Hour on Friday, May 2 from 4 to 7 p.m., a lively after-work gathering with food, drinks and entertainment to set the tone for the month ahead.

As part of Passport DC, the International City Festival is also an official pick-up location for the souvenir passports for the Around the World Embassy Tour, giving attendees a convenient way to start their cultural journey. The passports will be available on both days until supplies last.

Around the World Embassy Tour boasts more than 50 non-European Union embassies opening their doors to visitors on May 3 for more cultural performances, music, art, food and other activities.

Giant Food is the presenting sponsor of both the International City Festival and Around the World Embassy Tour.

"Giant Food is honored to sponsor the second annual International City Festival, where the universal language of food brings our diverse communities together. This festival transforms Washington, DC into a vibrant cultural crossroads, celebrating the traditions that make our region uniquely special. By supporting this immersive celebration, we're creating meaningful connections through shared meals and experiences that reflect the dynamic spirit of our nation's capital," said Felis Andrade, Director of External Communication at Giant Food.

The International City Festival will be held at International Square, located at 1850 K Street, NW. The Happy Hour Preview is on Friday, May 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. The main event will be on May 3, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
