Washington, DC is Your Passport to the World
Message from Events DC President and CEO, Angie Gates.
A Global Festival in Washington, DC
Passport DC returns this May, transforming Washington, DC into a global celebration of culture, cuisine and community. The month-long festival features embassy open houses, street festivals and performances, offering visitors a chance to explore the world without leaving the city. From hands-on cultural experiences to international flavors, it is one of the most unique traditions in the nation’s capital.
Experience Embassy Excellence
The Around the World Embassy Tour takes place May 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., inviting visitors to step inside dozens of embassies across Washington, DC for a one-day global experience. Guests can explore international cultures through food, music and art as participating countries open their doors to the public. It is a rare chance to travel the world without leaving the city.
Keeping Up With Team Washington, DC
After nearly one full month at sea, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race fleet made it stateside to Seattle! The harrowing north Pacific Ocean gave Team Washington, DC and the rest of the yachts a few new challenges with torn sails, broken steering and nonfunctional navigation equipment. Now after a good rest in Seattle, the fleet moves onto Leg 7 or The Americas Coast-To-Coast leg. Racing to get to the Panama Canal and finally here to Washington, DC.
Kicks for Kids with the Washington Spirit
The National Cherry Blossom Festival in partnership with Events DC and the Washington Spirit, selected 25 Washington, DC students to design custom soccer cleats for this year’s Blossom Kicks for Kids program themed “Art of the Game” in support of creativity and female youth sports across the District. The blossom-inspired designs have been on display at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library for the month of May.
On May 30th, these young creators and their one-of-a-kind cleats will be celebrated during a Washington Spirit game. Elements of each design will also be featured on limited edition Spirit gear with partial proceeds benefiting a local organization and showing how creativity blooms when art and sports intersect.
